Phd Positions in History (f/m/d)

Founded in 1386, Ruperto Carola is the oldest university in Germany and one of the strongest in research in Europe. Its successes in all funding rounds of the Excellence Competition and in international rankings underline its leading role and excellent reputation in the academic landscape.

The South Asia Institute was founded in 1962 as an interdisciplinary centre for research and teaching on South Asia. It deals with the countries Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The South Asia Institute combines - for the first time and uniquely in Germany - social and economic sciences and geosciences with historically and philologically oriented cultural studies.

 

In the Department of South Asian History of the South Asia Institute at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, seeks to fill two:

 

Phd Positions in History (f/m/d)
part-time 65%

 

Two PhD positions have been funded by the DFG to research the importance of anticolonial sonic mobilization in British India, specifically focusing on the role of songs and slogans. The timeframe for the project is the interwar period, particularly the early 1930s.
